Pilates Equipment Classes

Pilates equipment classes

Pilates North is a fully equipped studio and we pride ourselves in offering certified instruction on Reformers and Stability Chairs.   As a natural progression from the core work learned in our Pilates mat classes, these pieces of equipment add spring resistance to your workout.

A perfect blend of core work and resistance training,

Most people will agree that the best core work comes from Pilates mat exercises.  The focus of proper positioning in Pilates exercise is within the core, your abdomen and lower back muscles.  By conditioning the core muscles, they will work with all movements to stabilize and align your spine. A strong core will increase the effectiveness of all exercises due to your ability to maintain proper alignment. Core strength increases your ability to generate power to your muscles and decreases the risk of injury.

As our clients progress in level we offer classes with Stability Chairs and Reformers to progress the intensity of the workouts.  Equipment classes consist of controlled, flowing movements that work your muscles through a full range of motion.   Resistance is created with spring tension and pully systems against your own body weight.  This resistance will increase the intensity of each Pilates exercise and provide a challenging workout out for the whole body.  Combining the core work from a mat class with Pilates chairs and Reformers helps to continually challenge our clients bodies and increase the fitness levels in a safe a methodical way.  Many of the benefits we see and our clients experience:

Pilates Equipment Classes vs Pilates Mat Classes

After 24 years in the business, we know what works.  The best Pilates workouts come from a combination of both mat and equipment work.  Our philosophy in the studio is to progress clients from mat to equipment.  They are both important to a total body workout and work hand in hand to creating a lean long and flexible body.   All of our equipment classes are offered in combination with Pilates mat work.
