Designed for people new to the Pilates technique. Introductory classes will cover a foundational repertoire of exercises and stretches focusing on teaching key principles and detailed instruction. This class is taught at a slower pace as there is an emphasis on proper technique and execution throughout the session. You can expect to leave a class feeling “worked” yet relaxed. The sessions are progressive and will prepare you for an Essential level class. INTRODUCTORY CLASS SCHEDULE
If you are looking to quick-start your Pilates North program, the Mat & Reformer Introductory class is perfect. This mixed class will elevate your training by incorporating hours on the reformer along with your core mat classes. The classes will cover the basic repertoire of Pilates exercises focusing on the key principles. The sessions are progressive and will prepare you for Essential and Foundation level Pilates classes.
INTRODUCTORY CLASS SCHEDULE
Essential mat is the next progression for those who have completed introductory mat. This class will increase the challenge of exercises and stretches already learned during the Intro level and will add new exercises to challenge co-ordination and strength. Essential is intended to add difficulty while focusing on correct form in the foundational movements. This level is a stepping-stone to Intermediate level.
The Reformer Foundations class is designed to familiarize clients with the terminology and mechanics of the Reformer. The Reformer offers a new way to challenge the core and limbs with adjustable resistance. Clients will learn essential level exercises that are similar to those previously learned on the Mat or Chair. This class is available to any client who is registered in or has completed Intermediate 1. Once completed clients can join one of our ongoing reformer classes when registered for a mat class.
This challenging workout is appropriate for participants who have mastered the full essential repertoire and have the strength, flexibility and stamina to integrate new intermediate exercises. Clients will be introduced to the Pilates Chair, a piece of equipment that will add spring resistance to movements similar to those performed on the mat. Mat exercises already learned in the first two levels are perfected and new variations are added to further challenge strength and co-ordination. Once completed, clients can choose to add a Foundational Reformer Class for more resistance and variety.
Very physically challenging. Intermediate 3 is a combination of new exercises and advanced variations that will keep the class working at an intense level! Each new session will vary with an intention or theme so that proficiency within a session is achieved. This class is for individuals who like variety and goals. The sky’s the limit. Workouts may include balls, fitness circles, thera-bands, foam rollers and chair work.
In a Reformer class clients will combine their own body weight with spring resistance allowing for fluid movements that focus on eccentric muscle contractions. A new dimension of movement is introduced as positions used on the Reformer include kneeling and standing. The Reformer is also great as a support when opposing muscles are imbalanced or when flexibility is limited. This will help prepare clients for variations of mat exercises that they have had difficulty performing within the Mat class itself. Reformer classes are not leveled as modifications or variations can be individually taught allowing the just the right amount of challenge to each client.
Created for clients who want to have both mat and reformer work but are limited on time. In the Mat/Reformer mixed class the classes will alternate each week between mat and reformer work. Instructors will design the mat and reformer classes to flow with each other, ensuring maximum use of your time. Classes are restricted to those who have completed a Foundational Reformer course and are working at a minimum intermediate 1 level of Pilates Mat.
Foundations TRX classes are offered for clients who have reached our intermediate level and would like to start TRX class. The courses are designed to get you up to speed on the TRX. The classes are challenging and require Pilates experience and a good understanding of cuing. The class is designed to familiarize clients with the terminology and mechanics of the TRX. Once completed clients can integrate with our regular TRX classes as a supplement to their Pilates North program.
